OUR MISSION

The Canadian Institute for Innovation and Development (CANIIDEV) is dedicated to the research, education, and societal engagement in the area of developmental entrepreneurship and enterprise. This is a phenomenon which links the fields of technology, business, sociology, and economics into a focus on issues that connect development and entrepreneurial innovation in less developed and transitional economies.

Through research, courses, conferences, networking, and unique funding opportunities, the institute leverages the North American experience by combining educator training, basic level programs, research efforts, and active dialogue to engage various parties in the generation, diffusion and capitalization of ideas and innovations to improve and enhance the potential of private sector grass roots entrepreneurship and innovation in developing countries

Ability is what you’re capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you can do.
Attitude determines how well you do it.
— Lou Holtz, former Head Coach, University of South Carolina

SOME OF What We do

WORKSHOPS:
CANIIDEV hosts intensive three to five day workshops designed for post-secondary educators to develop their ability to teach, coach and mentor students in entrepreneurship. The workshop will train these educators to teach and prepare students in:

Personal development

Entrepreneurship education should build confidence, motivate progress, and strengthen the innovative entrepreneurial mindset that can lead to self-improvement and foster a desire to act and achieve.

Business development

Entrepreneurship education should foster the learning of skill sets needed to develop, organize and manage a business venture including the technical, financial literacy, and marketing skills necessary to engage in regular employment or self-employment.

Entrepreneurial skills

Entrepreneurship education should provide training in social skills, networking, creative problem solving, opportunity seeking, selling, interviewing, presentations, group leadership, community co-operation, dealing with bureaucracy, local cultural norms and how they affect business, etc.
